Before you think of saying an unkind word
think of someone who can not speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food
think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife
think of someone who is crying out to God for a companion

Today before you complain about life
think of someone who went too early to heaven

Before you complain about your children
think of someone who desires children but they are barren

Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didnít clean or sweep
think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive
think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job
think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another
remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down
put a smile on your face and thank God you are alive and still around.

Life is a gift Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, and Fulfill it.

My mother used to ask me what the most important part of the body is. Through the years I would take a guess at what I thought was the correct Answer. When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans, so I said, My ears, Mommy. She said, 'No. Many people are deaf. But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon.

Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated the correct answer. So this time I told her, Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be our eyes. She looked at me and told me, You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind. Stumped again,

I continued my quest for knowledge and over the years, Mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was, No. But you are getting smart erevery year, my child.
Then one year, my grandfather died. Everybody was hurt. Everybody was crying. Even my father cried. I remember that especially because it was only the second time I saw him cry. My Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our final good-bye to my Grandfather. She asked me, Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear? I was shocked when she asked me this now. I always thought this was a game between her and me.

She saw the confusion on my face and told me, This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived in your life. For every body part you gave me in the past, I have told you were wrong and I have given you an example why. But today is the day you need to learn this important lesson. She looked down at me as only a mother can. I saw her eyes well up with tears. She said, My dear, the most important body part is your shoulder. I asked, Is it because it holds up my head? She replied, No, it is because it can hold the head of a friend or a loved one when they cry. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometime in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends that you will always have a shoulder to cry on when you need it.
Then and there I knew the most important body part is not a selfish one. It is made for others and not for yourself.
It is sympathetic to the pain of others. People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will NEVER forget how you made them feel.

Times change, but we remain essentially the same. Our values should not change according to the times that we are living in. price is what you pay.Value is what you get.The following is a brief list of some values that stand the test of time.
  • Keep your word - Say what you mean and mean what you say. Do not make hollow promises. Be true to your word, and keep your promises.

  • Speak the truth - Telling one lie leads to another, and lies lead to slow corrosion of moral character.

  • Return what you have borrowed - What you have borrowed from others does not belong to you. Give back in a timely manner what you had promised to return, whether it is money, a book, or a cooking pot.

  • Be polite and respectful - Respect should be given to one and all at all times. Watch out for how you behave where no one knows you, such as the internet. The anonymity of the internet brings out the true colours in everyone.

  • Be loyal - Be a true friend; one who is not only around when the times are good. Do not engage in backbiting and faultfinding.

  • Practice restraint - Resist the urge to do whatever the mind desires. Think about the consequences and practice restraint.

An American woman wanted to marry Swami Vivekananda, when he was on visit to America. Vivekananda asked "why she is willing to marry him". The lady answered that she is very much fascinated by his intellect so she wanted to marry him and have a child like him.

He told the woman that because she is only amazed with his intelligence, so its not a problem.

Vivekanand said to her - "Dear Lady, i understand your desire. Marrying and bringing a child in this world and to know he is intelligent, will take long time and there is no guarantee for it. Instead, to meet your desire instantly i can give you an idea. You accept me as your child. Thus you will become my mother and your wish having a child of intelligence like me shall be fulfilled."

Once Brahmaji became pleased with worship of one of his divotee and said him to ask 3 boons. Man was very happy to see Brahmaji but was not ascertain what to ask. Brahmaji said - Vats !! ask whatever you need, i am happy with your worship and give you 3 boons.
Man thought, whenever i go for a hair cut, barber charge me high so he said - Bhagwan, give me 1st boon as, whenever i have a hair cut, barber does't ask for money. Brahmaji smiled and said - "Tathastu (Amen)"
Man again though, his tailor used to steal the cloths whenever he orders to make a new cloth, so he said - My tailor does not steal a single centi meter of cloth, whenever he make a new cloth for me. Brahmiji thought, How foolish this man is, instead of asking wealth and power he is asking such trivial things, and said - "Tathastu (Amen)"
Man was in deep thought, what to demand now
Brahmaji said - Son, ask your last and 3rd boon as i have to go Brahm Lok. Man continues to think. Brahmaji again said - Vats, ask your 3rd boon.
Hmmmm.... Man said - God, my 3rd boon is, whenever i wish i can ask three more boons. Now Brahmaji puzzled, the man is asking three more boons, but since Brahmaji has said to give him 3 boons so he agreed to give him three more boons as last boon to him and Brahmaji returned to Brahm Lok.

Now man was very happy as he does not have to pay for his hair cut and there was no threat for his new cloths being stolen from his tailor

One day he visited to one of his relatives and stayed there at night. He lay down on a cot to sleep but there were many bugs in the cot and the food served by his host was not good and the man was willing to have some laddos. So he remembered Brahmaji, BrahmaJi came, the man said - There are many bugs in this cot, i can not sleep. Please make this cot bug free. Brahmaji said - "Tathastu (Amen)" and all bug died. I have desire to eat Ladoos, please arrange some delicious ladoos, Brahmaji Said - "Tathastu (Amen)" and there appeared delicious laddos before him. Now, please allow me, whenever i wish i can ask three more boons. Brahamaji Said - "Tathastu (Amen)" and disappeared.

This became the habbit of man to call Brahmaji whenever he has a problem, even very little problem, he used to call him, get solved the problem and ask him to give three more boons as his 3rd boon. The man used to called Brahmaji every time and brahmaji has to come from Brahm Lok to Earth to ful fill his desires. Brahmaji was fed up now taking rounds between Brahm Lok to Bhoo Lok, so he went to Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu said seriously to Brahma ji - bring the man to heaven convincing him this is the only solution and we will have to stop the tradition of giving boons to anyone.

Then Brahmaji went to that man and said - Son, here you have many problems and there are no end of these problems, we god lives in heaven, there is no problem at all, we have prosperities, all luxuries, wealth, fairies and all other things that makes a life better. If you wish i can take you there with me, i am sad to see you engaged with little problems, after all you are my best devotee. Hearing this man appeased, Lord Brahma himself offering this splendid life to him and he went happily to heaven with Brahmaji. Now Brahmaji took a sigh of relief and it is said since then the tradition of giving boons has been stopped.

After leaving his kingdom, lord Buddha started sever penance to attain salvation. He abondoned all the foods and started living only upon air, this caused vital health depriciation to him but he continues his penance. One day there was a troop of musician passing through the way they were returing from somewhere and were singing and dancing.

Buddha heard the song and the abstract of the song was something like : Do not tighten the strings of Guitar so much that it broke or do not loose the string so much that it can not be played. Hearing this Budhha understood and started middle way for salvation.

In olden days parents sent their childrens to study in Guru kuls, remote from their home. Students lived there, studied there, serve the Ashram and Gurus and returned back their home after completing the study.
There was a child named Bopdev, who was very labourious and used to study earnestly however he was not able to understand the Vyakaran and all other Shashtras. Other fellow students used to ridicule him and laught off him. One day, fed up of all this things he left the Ashram and went towards his home, deciding not to study anyomore and be a laughing stock among other students.

On his way he stopped on a place to take rest. There was a well, where ladies of nearby village came to fill water pot. He went to the well to drink some water. He drank some water and sat there on the well. Suddenly he saw dent of pot on the surface of well marked by pot and also there was a sign of rope on the well that was happend due to friction between rope and well while filling the water.

Now Bopdev thought - If a rope can make a sign on the well and a pot can also make a dent of its on the well then can't i learn with continuous effort, my mind can't be hearder than the stone and he came back the Ashram and became a noble scholar.

The greatness of charity is in sacrifice not in numbers.
Once Pandav did Ashwamedha Yajna, fed thousands of brahmans and donated cloths, cows and golds to them. All brahmans were very happy with the hospitality of Pandav's and were praising them, this led Pandavas to feel proud and arrogance.

Suddenly a mongoose came at Yajna Place, his half of the body was shining like gold and half was normal skin. He started sprawling in the ashe's of Yagna with a scary voice. Hearing this Pandav came to mongoose and ask who he is and why sprawling in the ashes and why the half of his body is shining like gold and half one is normal.

The mongoose said in human voice - It is very old, once there lives a very poor brahman with his wife, son and daugher-in-law, livelihood of brahman and his family was vey difficult. When farmers used to cut all their crops then brahman take the fallen grains of crop on the ground, this was the only base of their family. Once the region was affected by sever famine and there was no crop. The brahman got some of the grains after several days of effort, that night they prepared the meal and devided it in four equal shares and were about to eat just there was a guest on their door. Brahman welcomed him and offered the food of his share guest was very happy to have meal but his appetite was not satisfied. Now Brahmani, the wife of brahman offered her food, guest also eaten that but still remained unsatisfied. One by one he eat all the four shares of food alone. He said to Brahman - I am delighted !!!! having this kind of food. May god bless all of you. Seeing this sacrifice of brahman's family i came out of my hole and some water and grains splattered on my body when guest was washing his hand, the part of my body where water and grain were splatterd become shining like Gold. Since then i am visiting all Yajna and vitruous deeds, craving to become half of the my body like gold.

King, I came here also with same desire after hearing your virtuous deeds and started to sprawling in the ashes, hoping the color of my remaining body becomes like gold, but it did not happened. Your donation and this great yagna has no comparing with brahman's sacrifice.Saying this the mongoose went away.

Once Vashishta Rishi came to Sage Vishwamitra. Vishishtha was well respected by Vishwamitra and apart from giving great honour to Vashishtha Vishwamitra also bestowed him virtue of 100 years of his Penance.

After some time Vishwamitra became the guest of Vashishta. Vashishtha Rishi gave good honour and respect to him and gave him virtue of half minute of his Satsang. But the dissatisfaction on the face of Vishwamitra was not remained hidden from Vashishtha. He told to Vishwamitra - Sage!! You are thinking that i have given you only half minute of Virtue of Satsant to you however you gave me Virtue of 100 Years of Penance to me. Let's go to someone to judge it.

Since both were Brahmrishi so no king on the earth dared to judge which Virtue is greater. They went to Brahmaji. Brahmaji Said - I am busy with the creation of world why not you go to Lord Vishnu. Both went to Lord Vishnu, Lord Vishnu said - The valuation of Penance and Satsang can be done by only one who himself practice this the best person is Bhagwan Shankar he always used to do Penace , Satsang , Yoga and all Dhyan Kriyas, Said Vishnu Smilingly.

They both went to Kailash Parvat. Hearing their query Bhagwan Shankar said - Since when i have drunk "halahal" (the Poison emerged after Samudra Manthan) i am not in a positon to give the right decision, You should go to SheshNaag in Paatal Lok who is holding the earth on his head and keep giving the Satsang through his thousands of mouth and also do sever penance.

Both agreed and finally went to Sheshnaag. Sheshnaag said - I am holding the earth on my head since very long time, can any of you hold the earth so that i can think with a relaxed mind.
Vishwamitra dropped some water on his palm from his ewer and prayed - I am giving my 100 years of Penace, let earth stay away from Sheshnaag for sometime but earth did not even move from Sheshnaag's head.

Now Vashishta Said - Mother earth i am giving half minute of my satsang please move away from Sheshnaag's head and remain steady. Earth moved away from Sheshnaag's head and now it was automatically clear which virtue is great.

Satsang (Sanskrit Sat=True, Sang=Company) is company of a Guru, Company of assembly of people who listen, talk and imbibes the Truth.

A little girl was watching her mother preparing a fish, mother cut head and tail of fish and put the fish in fry pan.
Girl asked why she cut off the head and tail of fish.
Mother said - I have always done this way as your grand mother used to do same while preparing fish.

Little girl did not satisfy and go to his Grand Mother to find right answer, Grand maa said - I don't know, my mother always prepared this way.

So the little girl and GrandMaa both went to see great grandmaa to find the answer.
Great Grand Maa though for a while and said - "Since my fry pan was too small to fit whole fish so i had to cut head and tail".

There was a very rich lady living in her sumptuous house. She was very miser although she had a big bank balance. She very rarely helped someone and spoke friendly.

After her death she went to heaven due to some of her good cause. The gatekeeper on heven's door welcomed her and asked to follow him. The lady saw magnificient houses, beautiful gardens, lakes etc and she was very happy but gatekeeper continued walking and crossed the whole city. After a long walk she asked - "Where do i have to live and how far i have to walk more". We have just reached - Replied gatekeeper and they finally stopped at outside of city where there were jungles and some small huts. There were no lakes, no gardens and no all beautiful sceneries that lady had seen before.

Gatekeep told to lady - "Madam you have to live here in one of the huts"

Lady asked disbelief - how can i live here. I had a big house with all facilities on earth a big bank balance using which i had bough all means for my comfort, i had many servants. Here i can't live in such a tiny hut. Gatekeeper told politely - "Madam, you have to live here. What money you had sent to us only this hut could be created with that and nothing more.

Father was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his highly educated son. Suddenly a crow perched on their window.
The Father asked his Son "What is this?"
The Son replied "It is a crow".
After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd time, "What is this?"
The Son said "Father, I have just now told you "It's a crow".
After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son the 3rd time, what is this?"
At this time some 'ex-pression' of irritation was felt in the Son's tone when he said to his Father with a rebuff. "It's a crow, a crow".
A little after, the Father again asked his Son the 4th time, "What is this?"
This time the Son shouted at his Father, "Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again, although I have told you so many times 'IT IS A CROW'. Are you not able to understand this?"

A little later the Father went to his room and came back with an old tattered diary, which he had maintained since his Son was born. On opening a page, he asked his Son to read that page. When the son read it, the following words were written in the diary

"Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa, when a crow was sitting on the window. My Son asked me 23 times what it was, and I replied to him all 23 times that it was a Crow. I hugged him lovingly each time he asked me the same question again and again for 23 times. I did not at all feel irritated I rather felt affection for my innocent child".
While the little child asked him 23 times "What is this", the Father had felt no irritation in replying to the same question all 23 times and when today the Father asked his Son the same question just 4 times, the Son felt irritated and annoyed.
So...
If your parents attain old age, do not repulse them or look at them as a burden, but speak to them a gracious word; be cool, obedient, humble and kind to them. Be considerate to your parents. From today say this aloud, "I want to see my parents happy forever. They have cared for me ever since I was a little child. They have always showered their selfless love on me. They crossed all mountains and valleys without seeing the storm and heat to make me a person presentable in the society today". Say a prayer to God, "I will serve my old parents in the BEST way. I will say all good and kind words to my dear parents, no matter how they behave.

Okkay one day wife said to husand - We should make a list of our bad habbits, i will make a list for you similarly you make a list for me. Husband agreed, both sat and after half an hour they interchanged the list. In wife's list, there were many complains and want.

Husband nodded smilingly - Ok i will try my level best to be as you wish.

Wife opened the list that husband gave her. It was blank and there was only few lines written at bottom.

I don't want a single change. Main tumhe pasand aur pyar kerta hun, tum bilkul aisi hi rehna jaisi ho.                                                                                                                                ~Pradeep Lal

There was a dreaded bandit on the forest. He used to kill the man and rob them whoever passed through the way. He killed many man and looted whatever he found from them. Seeing this henious deed, one day Dev Rishi Narad went through the forest and caught by bandit. Bandit was about to loot him and kill him, but seeing the glory of Narad Muni he hesitated for a moment but was determind to loot him.
Narad said - Why you do this kind of henious work. It is a very big sin to kill people and rob them.
Bandit replied - I do this for my family to feed them, to raise them.
So your family share the sin what you do in order to feed them? Narad queried. I think yes they must, bandit was uneasy now.
You should go to your home and confirm this - Narad said. Ohhh you think me a fool, if i go home and you will run away from here, i am going to kill you now.
No no, i won't run away i am so lean, thin and week you can tie me with the tree tightly and strongly and come back from your home and no need to kill me i will give all what i have to you. Go home and confirm if your family is ready to share the sin that you did till date.

Bandit went to his home and ask his father and mother - Are you with me with the sin that i am doing. No son, we won't. We are old and can't work any more for money earning. We have grown you so that you can take care of us in old age of ours. It is your job to take care of us.

He went to his wife, and ask the same question. Wife replied - i won't, i am your wife and it is your responsibility to work outside to earn money. I have nothing to do how you earn the money. I have to take care of houshold and children only.

Now bandit was very dismayed. He finally went to his child and ask - will you share the sin that i do to earn money in order to raise you. Father, i am your child and little now, I can't work for myself. It is your duty to earn and feed me, why should i share the sin or anything that you do outside. I won't share the sin. Son replied.

Now the bandit was trembling and went to jungle and slipped on the feet of Narad and started weeping. Narad told him to chant the name of Lord Ram, only he will atone him from his sins. But the pure name of "Ram Ram" was not pronunciatee by his mouth, so Narad adviced him to chant "Mara Mara" (killed killed).

The bandit's name was Ratnakar and later he became Valmike and revered as Adi Kavi who wrote "Ramayana".

Once upon a time a man spread rumors that his neighbour is a thief. As a result his neighbour was arrested and later he was found innocent and released. The neighbour sued the man for wrongly accusing him.

In the court the man said "It was just comments, didnot harm anyone"
Before passing the judgement of the case, judge told to the man 'Write all things that you said about your neighbour on a papar, tear them in pieces and your way to home through the pieces out. Tomorrow come back to hear the sentence.
The next day judge asked to man - Before receiving the sentence, you will have to go out and gather all the pieces of paper that you threw out yesterday.
The man said - I can't do that!! the wind spread them away and i don't know where to find them.

The judge then replied - "The same way simple comments on someone may distroy the honor of a man upto such extent that one is not able to fix it " So "If you can't speak well of someone, rather don't say anything"

A man went to a barber's shop to have a hair cut and shave. Barber as per his nature starts talking, both talked on various subjects and finally come on the subject of God.The barber said "I don't beleive that God exists".
"Why are you saying so" asked the customer.
OK, you just go outside on the streets and can realize that God does not exists. Tell me if God exists, would there be so many suffering people, would there be orphaned childrens?. If God exists, there would be no pain, no suffering, everyone should be happy.
Customer thought for a moment and did not replied to avoid further argument, barber finished his work and customer left.

As soon as customer came out of saloon he saw a man with long hair and beard, he looks unkempt, untidy and dirty. Customer went back to barber's shop and said "You know ! Barbar dont exists".
Barber asked surprisingly "How can you say that i am a barber and i am here and i just worked on you"
NO!!!! barber don't exists, if they exists there would not be people with dirty, unkempt long hair and beards, like the man outside of your saloon.

Ahhh but barber DO exists, that's what happens if people don't come to me.

Yess ! Exactly that's the point, GOD too exists. And that's what happens when people don't go to him and don't look towards him for help and salvation. That's why there is so much pain and suffering.

Hearing this lion perplexed - This dog eats lions!! My God. I need to save my life and he ran away.

A monkey on a tree was seeing all drama and thought "It is right time to tell Lion everything and make him friend" and he ran quickly after lion. Dog had already seen the monkey going towards lion and understood, there is something wrong.
Monkey disclosed to lion how dog made him fool. Lion roared loudly and said "Come with me, i will kill that dog" and sitting the monkey on his back lion ran towards dog angrily.
Again dog sit back opposite direction of Lion and as soon as he saw him coming, started yelling - Iss bandar ko bheje 1 ghanta ho gaya , bewkoof ek Sher phansh ker nahi la sakta ! (It has been 1 hr that idiot monkey has gone and even he can not lured a lion for me.)

Once a man visited an underconstruction temple and found one sculptor was making an idol of God. He suddenly noticed a samilar idol lying nearby. Surprisingly he asked the sculptor - Do you need two statue of same GOD.
No !! the first one got damaged at last moment - Replied sculptor without looking up.
The gentleman examined and didnot find any damage, he asked again - "Where is the damage?". "There is a scratch on the nose of statue" said the sculptor, still busy with his work.

OK, where are you going to install this idol ? The man queried.

Sculptor Replied - On the top of a 25 feet high pillar.

"If this statue is about to install on the high of 25 feet pillar how can any one know that there is a scratch on the nose of idol"
Now sculptor stopped, looked up at the gentleman and said smiling - "I will know it"

This is called "EXCELLENCE" it is a drive from inside not outside. It is not that someone notice and appreciate you, it is for your own satisfaction and efficiency.

The barber asked to Gandhiji - Bapu, if you are happy with my service then please give me a certificate "I make good shave".
Bapu smiled and said - untill you are doing good services, there is no need of a certificate.

In a small village there was two shops infront of each other.
One was of a Lohar (Blacksmith) and other was of a Sunar (Goldsmith). Every night Sona (Gold) hears the strong weeping of Loha (Iron). As time pass Loha continue to weep loudly.
One day at night sona asks loha - i know Lohar works on you with hammer daily and the same fate is with me. I am amazed - with a hammer you cry so fiercely.

Loha Replied - Tumko koi aur pit-ta hai lekin muje pitne wala mera khud ka apna hi bhai hai (I myself hammered by my own brother but you hammered by someone else).
